Civil Rights Day!!

On January twenty-first it is Civil Rights Day. However, this holiday only takes place in New Hampshire and Arizona. This year that is going to change, on Tuesday the twenty-second Veazie Community School is going to have a Civil Rights Day too. Since the early 1990s, New Hampshire and Arizona brought together Martin Luther King Junior's birthday (A major advocate and part of civil rights history) and Civil Rights Day to honor people of all race and skin colors, national origin and ancestry, disabilities, gender (including gender identity and expression), sexual orientation, and religion. The Civil Rights movement was the fight for social justice mostly in the 1950s and 1960s for black people to earn equal rights under the U.S. law. This fight was led by Martin Luther King Jr. This was just one instance of social injustice that needed to be solved amongst many more.
